Great information in the Fort Myers News-Press today regarding a University of Florida study estimating Lee County is the State's top snowbird destination while Collier County ranks fourth.
Owning a business in Southwest Florida has its benefits from a lifestyle perspective. The Summer months are slower business wise with most owners experiencing as much as a 30% drop from peak revenues in March; therefore, business owners have more time to get out and enjoy everything Gulf Coast living has to offer, e.g., beaches, boating, hiking, biking, birding, etc.. For those concerned about the Summer heat, once you live down here and become acclimated to the six months of consistent 90-93 degree days, you learn to avoid peak sun and enjoy mornings, afternoons, sunsets and evenings like nowhere else in the United States.
Of course you still have to work in the Summer. Business doesn't die. You just need to approach Summer like a squirrel approaches Winter in the North. You make your money (store your nuts) during late Fall, Winter and early Spring so you can enjoy paradise the rest of the year.
